Tapeinochilos ananassae development in different light conditions.

This research was conducted to determine the effect of different light levels on Tapeinochilos ananassae’s inflorescence development. The experimental treatments included four different light levels: zero, 36, 56 and 82% of shade in a completely randomized design. This research was conducted at Instituto Agronômico, in Campinas, SP, in 2002-2003. Data recorded included: number, height and diameter of stems, and stem dry weight at termination of the experiment or the 12th month. Results indicated that the plants grown under higher light levels had better inflorescence development and a greater dry weight in regards to a higher number of stems per plant. However, stem length was lower and the stem diameter unaffected by increase light intensity. Flowering was unaffected during the research period.
